V 5.9 New Functions include:

Have fun drawing while trying out the new"Infinity Brush" (IB) Version 5.9. Learn the Infinity Brush capabilities and functions while you draw. Watch for several improved Curves and Copy Path features in Version 6.0 to be released soon..

Just start the program, drag the mouse cursor and start drawing on a full screen. Select a different function and continue drawing. Select a control to easily change colors and drawing width. That's all there is to it. Sophisticated functions are performed by the click of mouse key. Microsoft VB.net does its thing, and you get to do yours, which is concentrating on your painting, not how the computer works.

For two color functions, try choosing 2 colors close to one another. Experiment freely with Pen Width and Transparency.

Except for Blend functions which control their own transparency, try using very low transparency values in the range of (1 - 10) for special effects.

Try the Copy and Mask feature under the Edit main menu. Copy an object masking out white or one of its other colors and use the 'Draw Using Copied Image' drawing function. Be sure to set the Current Color exactly to the masked color. With AutoClick on, you can just click that color. Double check by looking at the current color in Control.

Try using Rectangle outlines or straight line functions for frames. Experiment with straight line gradient colors for the frame sections. Use straight lines with low transparency for frame shadows.

See the sample drawing lessons ( A Drawing Lesson ) for getting started tips. Includes samples of special effects functions.

Try drawing Rough Textured strokes, Solid strokes, and Landscape Brush strokes at high, middle and very low transparencies. You can draw most of a landscape scene with just these three functions. If you use the AutoClick color option as described next, the process becomes even more simple.

The Default Option AutoClick Cur (Cur >> Prev) makes drawing over existing drawings or photos using the same colors easy. For example, using the rough textured strokes, click on a color in the sky or landscape and draw over it. The colors and landscape features will be quite similar but the results will be totally different.

In the example below, all figures were done with one mouse stroke (exceptions: flower bush was two and curves at bottom was four: Size, color, and transparency can be changed with a single click. Set the Smoothing option On for smoother lines.

Infinity Brush Features:

There are too many features to list them all here, but the following list is indicative of IB's primary characteristics and specialized functions:

A large on-line help screen gives a description and picture example of each function. It also provides a number of sample paintings with helpful tips.

A wide variety of Image Processing functions (photographs, scanned images, drawings) are available:

Any total screen image or portion of an image can be copied to the clipboard and an image hold work area using one of several available methods.

Any image or copied portion can be used as a paint brush.

Any image can be subjected to controls to brighten, darken, tint, blur, refine, or blend color characteristics.

Any image or copied portion can be resized with the click of the mouse in several different ways.

Any image can be resized and saved to the new size by just entering the desired width. A proportional length will be calculated and used. Great for making thumbnails.

Any image or copied portion can be mirrored, warped, stretched, cubed or rotated to any degree. Also any copied image can be rotated while it is being moved and pasted while at the desired angle.

Any image can be traced by opening it under a see-through canvas which can be drawn upon.

Any coordinate path resulting from tracing or a path copy or just freehand path drawing is point adjustable and can be saved as a text file. It can then be opened and readjusted as needed.

Any external image such as one from the internet or another program can be available on the IB screen with two keyboard strokes and a mouse drag. While the desired image is on the screen, press 'Prt Scr' on the keyboard, select 'Copy Clipboard/PrtScr' from the Edit menu, and the copied screen is on the clipboard to be placed and edited where you want with a simple mouse move.

A copy can be made of any portion of an image while masking out one of the colors appearing in the image. This process provides images with see through areas.

A Tiff File Processing feature gives the ability to create and maintain Tiff files (Tagged Image File Format) which permit storing multiple images in a single file.

A Swap Screen feature gives the ability to work on more than one image simultaneously.

Line drawing features can blend colors, taper, produce transparent colors and a large variety of other painting functions; most perform in a variable range of 1 to 600 pixels. Included are trace drawing functions which blend and color fill the closed area upon mouse release. The following stroke examples illustrate some of the functions available in the draw menu:

Draw and fill functions can produce multi-colored flowers and finely tuned color blended textures (such as skin coloring) with a single stroke of the mouse. Children learn faster using big colorful 3D like characters:

Multiple Paint functions are available to produce special painting effects in a range of 1 to 600 pixels. The image below illustrates some of the available painting strokes. It also includes a few standard pattern and object strokes. A transparent value can be applied to any stroke changing appearance from solid full color to almost fully transparent.

Many familiar shapes can be pre-selected to automatically color fill in many different shades, blends, and patterns. With a single stroke of the mouse you can create a wide variety of interesting shapes and curves including triangles, polygons, straight lines, parallelograms, circles, ellipses and more. Several example shapes can be seen in the second picture from the top.

Several brushes are designed to imitate brushes painters use to easily produce landscape scenes. Flower bushes, trees, clouds, etc. can be realistically drawn with one or just a few strokes.

Text functions allow use of print characters in any color with widths of 1 to 600. Any typed in text of 1 or more characters can also be used as a paint brush. The below was drawn with only print characters.

A Trace function permits use of a see-through screen to enable tracing or copying any existing drawing or photograph image. Click flower to see original and trace.

A Paint patterns function allows brushes to consist of one of many available Microsoft standard shapes. Both foreground and background colors as well as size can be selected.

A Paint objects function paints by exposing (at the current draw width) portions of one of a series of images of certain objects such as water, sky, sand, mountains, etc. This feature also allows browsing to any existing image to be used as a brush. The following picture was painted with objects:

For the children, three full screen menu pages of Picture illustrated selectable Functions (20 functions each page as shown above). Other fun features include bug shaped brushes, kaleidoscopes, and a number of other fun drawing functions. One feature sets up a Beetle Race Track where six racing beetles are randomly motivated from a starting gate to a finish line.

A number of global options can be selected to produce interesting and fun color effects. One extremely useful option allows primary and secondary colors to be changed by a mouse click on any portion of the screen showing a desired color; without having to leave your drawing for a menu selection.

Three screen color fill functions work at the click of a mouse. The screen can be totally filled with the erase color being changed to the new color. Any closed portion within the screen can be flood filled. A trace fill allows drawing around the area to be filled.

Tutorials or lessons are simply not required in learning IB. The best learning approach is to experiment with each of the drawing and painting functions. The process is quite easy:

First, select a function from the top menu.

Next, mouse down and drag to see basic results.

With most functions there are 3 major properties affecting stroke appearance: Width, Transparency Value, and Selected Color (many functions use 2 colors which must be selected).

There are three available controls to be used in changing function color, width and transparency properties. The one set as default is easy to access by clicking "CONTROLS" on the top menu or from the right click context menu. In the color wheel controls snapshot below, the Transparency is assigned with the slide bar next to the width selection box (the lower or softer values are the most transparent). The line width is selected with the scroll bar to the right of the Transparency control. The current and previous ( or primary and secondary) colors are selected with the buttons labeled as such. When in doubt, look at the function on the Help Screen.

A right click context menu allows immediate access to often used working functions such as undo, redo, clear screen, show color and width controls, erase, pixel measurement functions, etc.

A screen resolution control provides an ability to reset the existing image screen resolution to one of four standard sizes or to type in a custom resolution with width from 50 to 5000 pixels. This feature can be used to resize an image or as a temporary zoom function.
