IB Paint Program
MAIN MENU FUNCTIONS

IB - An SDB Paint Program Product
Our Goal is Ease of Use and Fun for Everyone
Function Selection is accomplished through a series of Main Menu Selections. Other than a one line Main Menu Bar at the top of the monitor, the drawing screen or canvas is not cluttered with a lot of selectable palettes or function objects. The canvas is full screen size, or any other size you wish to make it (from 50 to 5000 pixels). Color selection forms and often used functions are easily displayed by context menus; a right click of the mouse. Any selected function program control form can be moved to any screen location by mouse cursor down on top of the form. Forms become invisible at mouse down and reappear at mouse up until instructed to close. All program functions and specialized forms are described in the Help Menu selections. The Main Menu selections and some of their submenu functions include:
1. File Menu.

- Open Image Files. Just Display on the Screen or Open and Place image in Clipboard if desired. Aso you can Open using a Transparency value to create see through images as overlays.
- Open File (Most Recent Image Read or Saved). Saves
time locating unfinished pictures or other image files recently
used (the last six files opened or saved).
- Swap Screens. Gives ability to work on two
images at the same time. Also allows you to crop an image to
screen size.
- Save Image. Save as normal Screen Size or any
specified size.
- Print Preview. Option to preview screen
before printing.

2. Edit and Effects Menus.

- Select, Copy, Move, Draw, Paste. These functions can be done with a mouse expandable rectangle or by a free form trace. Any image area copied (or file opened) can be used as a paint brush giving the ability to create specialize brushes with one mouse trace stroke. For free form image copies, the clipboard contains and moves/pastes only that image within the trace; for example a nose could be copied and pasted on a face. If desired, free form copies can be adjusted after being traced.
- Alter Image. Once the image is read or
copied, it can be flipped horizontally or vertical and can be
rotated to any desired angle before use. Images can also be
Stretched, Warped, Resized, Cubed, Blurred, Refined, Blended or
subtly changed in color or numerous other ways.
- Copy Clipboard/Prt Scr. An easy and quick "Screen Copy". Once any image is on your screen, from the program or any other means, it can be captured by simply pressing the Prt Scr button at the top of the keyboard, returning to the IB program and clicking the 'Copy Clipboard/Prt Scr' menu selection, then mouse down and moving the cursor to a release point on the screen. Mouse up will provide the captured image at that location.
- Create See-Through Images. Not only do these four functions simplify masking and special effects, they also make it very easy to copy portions of any image and save the copy as an image file of that size. The following is an example of a drawing done at less than full screen size, copied and automoved to the top left corner, and then saved at its actual size:

- Brightness Adjustment. The screen image or
copied image in the clipboard can be brightened or darkened
within values of 1 (extremely light) to 100 (extremely dark).

The following is an example of the 'Select/Copy Ellipse Masking' function used to mask out the color blue:

3. View Menu.

- Change Picture Size. The Current Screen Image
can be increased or decreased by 10 percent of its actual size
with each mouse click. The screen resolution can be permanently
accepted as the new size or returned to the actual initial size
at any time.

- Screen Resolution Controls. The Screen
resolution/canvas size and whatever image is currently displayed
on the screen can be permanently changed to one of several common
screen sizes or to a custom size with width and height varying
from 50 to 5000 pixels. If the 'Make Proportional to Width' and
'Type in Custom Size' options are selected, the height does not
need to be input as it will be calculated and set.

4. Options Menu.

This menu primarily provides alternative methods of
selecting color selections that will apply to most functions;
also a special kids lock out feature is included:
- Set Default Color Controls. This feature
provides the ability to specify which color control option will
occur when the 'CONTROLS' menu item is clicked.
- Kids LockOut Function. As a precaution to
prevent unintended file changes, this feature provides the
ability for adults to lock/unlock access to the File Menu and
Kid's Menu 1 which contain file/edit functions.
- Set Default Save Image Type. At any time
during each drawing session, the 'Save Image' default graphics
format can be changed to GIF, JPG, or BMP. This is the
'Save as type' that will automatically show in the Standard 'Save
as' dialog box.
- Set Drawing Pen Types (Round or Square). This feature provides a global setting whereby most drawing functions will draw either square or rounded lines.
- Select Color AutoClick Option. When
set on, this feature causes a single mouse click on the canvas to
select the clicked color as the selected color for the next
stroke. This capability is especially useful in conjunction
with the swap option or when over painting an existing painting
or photograph.
- Set AutoClick Notice Message. This feature
provides the ability to turn On or Off a message explaining the
AutoClick feature.
- RainBow Option. When set on, this feature
causes most selected functions to paint with randomly selected
colors as a mouse stroke continually executes.
- Color Fade Option. When set on, this feature
causes most selected function's colors to gradually fade to total
transparency as a mouse stroke continually executes.
- Special Color Set Option. When set on, this feature causes most selected functions to paint with one of a set of pre-selected colors, similar to RainBow. The sets includes Bright Colors, Dark Colors, Fall Colors, Pastel Colors and Rock Colors. It also includes AutoLighten and AutoDarken options which cause most selected functions to either fade or darken as the stroke progresses.
